ABOUT
Save Our Green Spaces – South Gloucestershire (SOGS-SG) are a group of passionate, local people, who have joined together to oppose South Gloucestershire Council's (SGC) Local Plan. This Local Plan proposes to build thousands of new homes on the East Bristol green belt. There is no infrastructure to support development on this massive scale, and with no road improvements planned, will lead to gridlock on the A4174 and all our local roads and country lanes.
We consist of a number of sub-groups that include: Bitton, Hanham, Mangotsfield, Oldland Common, Shortwood, Warmley and Wick.
We wish to make it clear that SOGS-SG do not object to the building of new homes in East Bristol. We have seen organic housing growth over many years, and we are happy for this to continue. What we object to, is the loss of our precious green belt for mass house building. This would not be necessary if these new homes were shared equally across the whole of South Gloucestershire.
OUR MISSION
Following several Consultation stages, it has become clear to SOGS-SG that SGC will completely ignore the public responses to their Local Plan, continuing at a pace to push towards the final stage, when the Planning Inspector will make a final decision.
If SGC will not listen to the concerns and local knowledge of the people who will have to live with the consequences of this hugely damaging Local Plan, then our only option will be to employ a planning expert to contest the Local Plan when it is put before the Planning Inspector.
This will cost at least £3000, which we will need to fundraise over the next few months. We will do this through our GoFundMe page and donations given directly to our volunteers.
